Rodriguez and Kristoff to lead Katusha at the Tour de France

Katusha have announced their line-up for the Tour de France and will go into the race with two leaders, Joaquim Rodriguez and Alexander Kristoff.

The Russian team will target both the GC with Rodriguez and stage wins with Kristoff. Last year, Rodriguez failed to have an impact in the overall standings but he came away with two stage wins. Kristoff failed to get a victory despite winning two stages in 2014.

The team for the 2016 edition can be split in two. Kristoff will be supported by lead-out train of Marco Haller, Michael Mørkøv and Jacopo Guarnieri which has proved to be one of the best in the business.

Rodriguez will rely on Jurgen Van den Broeck and his two faithful compatriots Alberto Losada and Angel Vicioso in the mountains.

The surprise inclusion in the team is Ilnur Zakarin who has had a remarkable quick recovery from his crash at the Giro d’Italia where he frasctured his collarbone in stage 19. However, he has not done any racing since the Italian grand tour and is probably only in France to gain experience ahead of a serious GC bid in 2017.

Katusha’s Tour de France line-up:

Jacopo Guarnieri, Marco Haller, Alexander Kristoff, Alberto Losada, Michael Mørkøv, Joaquim Rodríguez, Angel Vicioso, Jurgen Van den Broeck and Ilnur Zakarin.
