Juraj Sagan wins his first Slovakian National Championships

For the first time since 2010 it won’t be Peter Sagan who will wear the Slovakian champion’s jersey for the next 12 months.

Peter’s brother Juraj took the glory in Sunday’s road race, with the world champion finishing 35 seconds off the pace. A year older than his brother, Juraj has found himself in Peter’s shadow for much of his cycling career. While his brother has won a World Championship, a one-day monument and four consecutive Tour de France points jerseys, Juraj’s only win was at the 2009 GP Boka.

Since 2000 the race has been mixed with the National Championships of the Czech Republic. Roman Kreuziger (Tinkoff) won the overall race to claim the Czech title, finishing six seconds ahead of Zdenek Stybar (Etixx-Quick Step).
