Francis de Greef is retiring from cycling at only 30 years

The belgian rider, who rode for Wanty-Groupe Gobert in the last two seasons, announced on his Twitter account that he will retire from cycling after he failed to find a contract for 2016.

“After eight years, I say goodbye to professional cycling. Despite a verbal agreement with my current team I did not get a contract renewal,” he tweeted. “A reason was never given to me. I look back on a lot of great moments and wants to thank my family, friends and supporters for all the support.”

Francis de Greef was the Belgian U23 time trial champion in 2007 and rode for Lotto for six years between 2008 and 2014. The belgian climber finished in the top 20 at the Giro three times (17th in 2009, 19th in 2012, 20th in 2013).
