Astana’s rider survives a horrific fall into a ravine in Paris-Nice

Astana’s Daniil Fominykh will be out for at least a month after a scary fall in the seventh and final stage of Paris-Nice.

The 24-year-old Kazakh fell into a ravine after losing control on a high speed descent during the 134km final stage of Paris-Nice. He was winched to safety and evacuated to a hospital but was conscious throughout.

Fominykh suffered two fractured vertebrae in the fall.
