ANT+ Look Keo Power pedals tested in Paris-Nice
Team Fortuneo-Vital Concepts is the new name for Bretagne-Séché, which we saw at the Tour de France last year where they were riding prototype Look TT bikes and next generation Zed one-piece carbon cranks. This year, they’ve got that new name and some new Keo Power powermeter pedals, special edition tires and more.
The bike with the new power meter pedals belongs to Chris Anker Sorensen.
These prototype Keo Power pedals use an external pod and plug into the spindle like the current version, but these did without a zip tie to secure them to the crank arm. The key difference, from what two of their team people told us, was that it does not transmit via Bluetooth. That’s the transmission protocol of choice for Polar, who partnered with Look on the first generation power pedals. Without that, it means ANT+, and they said it sends power data to Garmin cycling computers.
These were fairly rough looking pods, suggesting they’re still in early testing, but we’re happy to see them expanding to include ANT+ transmission. While we like the current version, the market potential is quite limited by only transmitting in Bluetooth.
