Another win for Boasson Hagen in Tour of Oman

Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) won the fifth stage of the Tour of Oman, using his speed to out kick a select group of 40 riders that formed after the final climb of the stage. The Norwegian outsprinted Greg van Avermaet (BMC) and Marco Canola (UnitedHealthcare), and gets his second win in this race.

The stage included three climbs of the Bousher Al Amerat climb, with Roman Bardet (AG2R-La Mondiale) making a strong attack on the last pass. He was closely marked by race leader Vincenzo Nibali after his Astana teammates had carefully controlled and chased down the break of the day.

Nibali still leads Bardet by 15 seconds, with teammate Jakob Fuglsang third overall at 24 seconds. The Tour of Oman ends on Sunday with a largely flat final 130km stage that ends with three circuits on the Muscat Corniche seafront.
