Tom Boonen could be in the colours of Lotto-Soudal next year with the Belgian outfit targeting him for the 2017 season. According to Het Nieuwsblad, bike manufacturer Ridley is keen to get the four-time Paris-Roubaix winner on board for what would probably be his final season.
Boonen, who is currently riding for Etixx-QuickStep, will be out of contract at the end of the season. Earlier this week Boonen said that he would be willing to move teams in search of a new contract for 2017, but he would prefer to stay with Etixx-QuickStep where he has been since his second full season as a professional.
Het Nieuwsblad reports that Boonen will not only be offered a ride for 2017, but also a job after he retires in a PR position that would also include helping with product design.
The report suggests that Boonen would be keen on such a move, given that his father, André, still works for Ridley, he lives near the Ridley headquarters in Paal-Beringen and he had success as a junior on Ridley bikes.
