Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) returned to racing at the Bretagne Classic in France on Sunday with a gold-painted special edition team bike to honour his Olympic road race win in Rio.
In addition to the gold BMC frame, Van Avermaet’s bike was fitted with gold SRM head unit and Fizik saddle. He also now has gold cuffs and collar on his BMC team kit, and wore special gold sunglasses.
Aside from the striking gold paintjob, Van Avermaet’s bike has standard team kit: a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 electronic drivetrain, and Shimano C35 wheels.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike and racing as Olympic champion”, Van Avermaet said earlier this week.
