Specialized really likes supplying its riders with custom bikes. Just in the last few months we’ve had Vincenzo Nibali’s bright pink Tarmac as he won the Giro d’Italia, Alberto Contador’s chrome Tarmac at the Critérium du Dauphiné and Marcel Kittel’s silver Venge ViAS at the Tour de France.
The latest, and probably the most understated of the lot, is the white and red Tarmac that Fabio Aru is currently riding through the mountains at the Tour.
The colour of Aru’s Tarmac (white and red) reflects the colours of his home region’s flag (Sardinia), which features a white-and-red cross over a white background. Four Moors’ heads drawn on the four corners of the flag complete the scheme.
The Astana rider’s bike mounts a Campagnolo EPS, a FSA stem and Vision handlebars, CeramicSpeed bottom bracket and headset, while the power meter (SRM) is integrated in the chainset.
The wheel set is a Corima S+ Carbon fitted on Specialized tyres.
